Elliptical trainers continue to grow in popularity with both gym users and people who purchase a residential elliptical trainer for use at home. Commercial gyms and health clubs continue to upgrade to newer elliptical trainer models and even get rid of out-dated cardio equipment such as skiers and older model stationary bikes to make room for more ellipticals. This is in direct demand by club members for quality cardio equipment. But is the elliptical trainer really just a Trojan horse that is lulling us into a false sense of fitness while cheating us of any real cardio vascular benefit?

Stye - Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

A sty or hordeolum is an infection of the sebaceous glands at the base of the eyelashes. It is a small boil or abscess caused by an infection of one of the tiny oil-producing glands located at the base of each eyelash. A person who develops one stye may have frequent recurrences. Patients who have multiple styes, or who have frequent recurrences of styes, should be seen by a general physician to rule out diabetes mellitus, which is recognized as predisposing individuals to multiple and recurrent infections of the eyelids. A stye can be secondary, caused by blepharitis. A blocked oil gland near the eye, a chalazion, is often mistaken for a stye. Styes are not harmful to vision, and they can occur at any age. A stye initially brings pain, redness, tenderness and swelling in the area, then a small pimple appears. Sometimes just the immediate area is swollen; other times the entire eyelid swells.

Safer Diets, Boosters, Energy Pills, and Sleep Aids

Bring me up. Bring me down. Despite certain dangers with certain drugs, there are some safer kinds of diet pills available than the other, more dangerous than certain others. However, when you take enough diet pills to really suppress your appetite (especially when you use them around dinner time) you will often have too much energy to get a good night of sleep. The reason is because diet pills will often stimulate someone’s metabolism. However the chemicals that induce this elevated metabolic rate (among other things) can also keep an individual quite wakeful. Thus, in order to maintain a regular sleep schedule he or she will often turn to sleep aids.

Diet Pills - More Information About The Dangers

Abuse of the drug phentermine is common once someone begins to take it. If it is taken, doctors intend it to be a short-term booster to a weight condition such as exogenous obesity. However, the short term use is highly emphasized. Nonetheless, as often occurs with potentially addictive drugs, a patient will continue the medication (one way or another) long after the few weeks restriction recommended by his or her doctor has passed. Tolerance often builds quickly thus increasing the amount of pills that someone will take. Without even noticing what is happening, an individual can become insane, stroke, have a heart attack, develop epilepsy, fall into a coma, and more terrible possibilities when he or she is taking too man diet pills.

Texans Find Qigong as a Response to the Obesity Epidemic

It wasn’t long ago that workout programs were limited to variations on the basics: jogging, hiking, team sports, like basketball or soccer, and, if one was lucky enough to have a home or fitness club swimming pool, a few good laps. Even exercise machines tended to only simulate the same activities. Treadmills, stair climbers, stationary bikes, and elliptical trainers were a bit like the hamster-wheel version of trying to enjoy the great outdoors, indoors.
